About the destination: Lake Atitlán is a lake in the Guatemalan Highlands of the Sierra Madre mountain range. It is in the Sololá Department of northern Guatemala. "Atitlan" means "at the water" in Nahuatl. The main tourist attraction is the Indian's Nose at the top of the mountain above the towns of San Juan and San Marcos. It is accessible through various trails, and there are also organized trips with horses to the top.
